La Liga F echa el cierre con dos focos más allá de las despedidas: la octava plaza y el Premio Zamora

Published: May 18, 2025

The curtain will fall on Liga F this Sunday at 12:00 PM, with a final matchday that carries little competitive significance after most key outcomes have already been decided.

With Barcelona crowned champions, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid joining them in Europe, and Athletic Club completing the Supercopa de España line-up, the only unresolved issue was the relegation battle—now settled with Real Betis and Valencia both confirmed to drop down a division.

Atlético Madrid vs Levante Las Planas

Atlético de Madrid will close the season at home against Levante Las Planas, who managed to secure safety at the last minute. This game will serve as preparation for Atlético’s Copa de la Reina final against Barcelona on June 7 in Huesca. The match is also a farewell for players like Ainhoa Vicente Moraza, Rasheedat Ajibade, Marta Cardona, and Merle Barth, who will be leaving the club. The game is also an emotional one for Sonia García Majarín, Itziar Pinillos, Maca Portales, and Estefanía Banini, all of whom have ties to Atlético.

Granada vs Levante

Granada ends the most successful season in its history — finishing fifth in the league and reaching the semifinals of the Copa de la Reina — with a home match against Levante. Head coach Arturo Ruiz, who will be replaced by Irene Ferreras, described it as a “historic season.” The team will also say goodbye to several players including Edna Imade. Defender Marta Carrasco will be honored for reaching 150 appearances for the club. Levante is also expected to undergo changes, with players like Daniela Arques, Paula Fernández, Emma Holmgren, Ángela Sosa, and Ivonne Chacón reportedly set to leave.

Espanyol vs Real Betis

Espanyol will play the role of hosts as they bid farewell to Real Betis, who are leaving Liga F after nine years in the top flight. Espanyol coach Sara Monforte praised her squad, though she will be without Simona Botero, with Ainoa Campo doubtful and Amaia Martínez returning to the lineup. Betis coach Juan Rojo must cope without Paula Vizoso (suspended) and Gema Soliveres and Júlia Aguado (injured).

Valencia vs Real Madrid

Valencia, after 18 seasons in the top tier, will play their final Liga F match against Real Madrid, who are chasing a perfect away record. Coach Cristian Toro acknowledged the moment as one of "reflection and necessary self-criticism," as he prepares for several departures, including goalkeeper Enith Salón, Claudia Florentino, and Alice Marques.

Real Madrid manager Alberto Toril emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum:

“We must win and continue our good run. The players are focused and excited.”

Sandie Toletti added:

“We want to win every away game. It will be tough, but we are determined.”

The match could also be the last for several Madrid stars: Mylene Chavas, Olga Carmona, Caroline Møller, and Carla Camacho are all rumored to be on the way out.
