ohtani injury

Shohei Ohtani's involvement in the 2023 World Series took a concerning turn during Game 2 at Dodger Stadium after he injured his left shoulder attempting a stolen base in the seventh inning. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts reported that Ohtani experienced a subluxation (a partial dislocation) of the shoulder, requiring additional tests to determine the full extent of the injury. However, Roberts was optimistic due to Ohtani’s strength and range of motion remaining intact, describing those signs as “positive.”

The incident happened as Ohtani tried to evade the tag from Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres. After sliding into second, he stayed down momentarily before being helped off the field by a trainer. Dodgers left fielder Teoscar Hernández noted the crowd's sudden silence as fans realized the potential impact of the injury.

Although Ohtani’s condition is yet to be fully assessed, Roberts expressed optimism that he would be back in the lineup, especially as the Dodgers lead the series 2-0 heading into Game 3 in New York.
